DiskInternals Linux Recovery – Free Data Recovery Tool for Windows
Review by on
Despite the Linux part in this application’s name, DiskInternals Linux Recovery is not actually meant to be used on the Linux operating system. Oh no, this application (which is offered free of charge by the developer) is meant to be used on top of the Microsoft-developed Windows operating system – pretty much all versions of the Windows operating system.

Here’s what DiskInternals Linux Recovery does: it allows Windows users to recover information contained in Linux Ext2/Ext3 partitions. By using this application the Windows user can restore deleted and damaged data, repair a partition table, recover files if the drive is inaccessible and restore a disk after a crash. The Windows user can also create a partition image that can be processed as a regular disk.

As mentioned above, DiskInternals Linux Recovery is offered free of charge. To my mind, freeware applications are the best for the simple reason that they do not cost a thing. You can get them, put them to the test, and use them for as long as you want without parting with your hard earned money.

Speaking of using an application, It is quite easy to use this one. Two factors add to the DiskInternals Linux Recovery’s ease of use: the familiar Windows Explorer-like and the wizard that takes you through the steps you need to take to recover deleted or damaged data stored on Ext2/Ext3 partitions.

Before you go get DiskInternals Linux Recovery and put it to the test, take a look at the technical details presented below:
Download – the download weighs in at 4.0MB.
Supported OS – at the time of writing this and according to the developer, DiskInternals Linux Recovery is compatible with Windows 2000, 2003 Server, 2008 R2, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.
Limitations – there are none, the application is freeware.

Pros
  • Easy to use
  • Wizard
  • Recovers data from Ext2/Ext3 partitions
  • Preview data before recovering
  • Compatible with Windows 7
  • Freeware

Cons
  • None that I could think of
